Slovacek Sausage and Hospice Brazos Valley partner to put on this event in Snook, TX each year. Slovacek’s ‘PIG’ is the mascot, and the centerpiece of the logo. We designed the initial Hog Splash logo 3 years ago, and it has sense turned into a really neat series we look forward to.

The tournament pits will rotate 48 co-ed teams comprised of 8-10 players per team, playing against each other knee deep in MUDD. Over 600 participants played last year, and it just continues to grow! If you’re interested in playing, this years’ is August 24th, come out and support a great cause!

The last ‘Mega Mixer Monday’ was a great success, so when this next one came around, we decided to sponsor the design of the invitation again. The setting for this one was in ‘The Plaza Club’, at the very top of the Frost Bank Tower in downtown San Antonio.

This one was a little more formal than the last, and as a perk, we had an opportunity to set up a display booth. So we gathered up a ton of samples of our work, and of course our iMac for displaying web work, and hauled it up to the 21st floor!

With over 350 people in attendance, we were certainly glad to be a part of this ever-growing networking event put on quarterly by Cre8ad8.

We are so excited to share this project. When we got together to brainstorm on a self-promotion piece this year we decided on a few things. We wanted the piece to be eye-catching, have a handmade element, and also be a fun design project that we could sink our teeth into. After throwing around many ideas, we came up with a concept that fulfilled all of the parameters we set for the project and also gave us an opportunity to really get our hands dirty.

What we came up with was a design series of seed packets, one for each letter in our name. PARC. The seed packet designs are an extension of our park-themed messaging and our tagline: Beautified Solutions. 

The overall purpose of the piece is to drive home the fact to potential clients that people are drawn to beautiful things and it’s important to stand out from the crowd. We wrapped the set of 4 seed packets in a sleeve with the message clear on top: “People pick flowers, not weeds. Set yourself apart.”

We chose flowers and fruit that matched our 4 brand accent-colors and purchased the actual seeds of them online. (Turns out, yellow rose and apple seeds are not as easy as you’d think to come by!)

When it came to production and assembly, we wanted to go all out. We decided to hand print the packets using the L Letterpress that we have. It seemed like a fun challenge, would save us production costs, and would give us some truly custom finished pieces. The only piece we actually had digitally printed was the wrap sleeve.

After designing the packets, we ordered our plates from Boxcar Press. We hand mixed the letterpress ink to get the colors we wanted and were able to print 3 at a time. The printing process is messy and fickle, but a nice retreat from working on the computer. After each packet was printed and dry, we stamped them all with a custom Creative Parc stamp that we designed fot the project. See the the printing process in action here.

Overall, we are thrilled with the results! We printed 100 sets. (so, 400 packets total) And conveniently, we had 4 poster spots in our office that now showcase these designs. Another project bites the dust!

Overall, it was a fun change of pace for us. And hey, now we can add ice sculptures to our project experience!

We kept putting our clients and our new marriages ahead of this daunting task, so we finally had to go on a retreat for an entire weekend to get it done! We started separately, each gathering inspiration for our vision of Creative Parc. Luckily, we had a lot of overlapping ideas, but finding them was a chore in itself! After 4 rounds of narrowing down, we finally started sketching concepts.

Upon comparing notes, we found that we had both sketched the exact same concept, so that one was automatically in our final round to refine. A second concept also emerged from our shared notes that was completely the opposite from the first. So, we spent the rest of the day refining these two opposite concepts, until we came up with our Creative Parc Mullet.

Deciding between these two refined logos was the hardest choice! The script logo pegged both of our fun, quirky personalities, but the other logo was perfect for our straight-laced business personalities.

To make this decision, we had to step back. Instead of trying to decide which one WE liked the best, we set out to determine which our TARGET AUDIENCE would be more drawn to. Then it was a no-brainer! Our business side won out hands down.

But! Fear not – our party logo will soon make an appearance – it is, after all, half of who we are!
